David Lynn misses a four-foot putt for a birdie on the final hole, but he still makes par to finish the competition five under.

  2. 2311

"Get in the hole," they yell on the 17th as Tiger Woods misses a birdie chance. David Lynn's day is getting even better as Carl Pettersson drops a shot on the 15th. The Englishman is second outright now. What a story.

On Twitter: (external) "Four of the top five names on the leaderboard right now at the PGA are from Northern Ireland or England. McIlroy, Poulter, Lynn, Rose."

  4. 2308

That's it for Ian Poulter, as he bogeys the 18th and finishes four under. He'll be disappointed to not keep the pace up today, but he will be pleased to virtually secure his Ryder Cup pick. GMac finishes two under, while Rory misses makes a par on the 15th. Such is his dominance today, he looked gutted not to roll in a 14-footer. It just didn't have enough pace on it.

  5. 2305

A few heroes of yesteryear are now taking stock in the clubhouse. Both Retief Goosen and Thomas Bjorn finish the competition five over. Luke Donald is also done and dusted too, finishing two over after birdies on the 15th and 16th.

From crimdefenceUK: (external) "How can the R&A ignore Northern Ireland now? Major, after Major, after Major, after Major. NI is the home of golf."

  7. 2303

A bogey at the 16th rubs salts into Tiger's wounds. Rory takes his second shot on the 15th and, once again, he lands on the front of the green. The ball is dancing to his tune this evening.

  8. 2301

Who's the other Englishman in joint-second? That's David Lynn, who has birdied the 16th and 17th to move to five under. He's had a dream day. His best-ever finish in a major before today was joint-53rd at the Open in 2003. Good lad.

  9. 2256

It's looking good for Rory, but we should remember the start Ian Poulter had to the day. At one point, he moved to within two shots of the Northern Irishman - but Macca has showed his true mettle. There has been no hint of a collapse, he hasn't dropped a shot yet.

  10. 2254

Bo Van Pelt drops a shot on the 14th, before Rory steps up on the same hole and sinks his three-footer with apparent ease for another par. Class.

From Peter: "Watching the closing ceremony with family but have to keep secretly checking up on the leaderboard. Got to see Rory hopefully on his way to another major!"

  12. 2251

Rory takes his second shot on the par-three 14th and he chips it to within three foot of the hole. It's been an exhibition by the Northern Irishman today, he has bounced back to form in style this week.

  13. 2249

Defending champion Keegan Bradley won't be winning the trophy today, but he will be pleased with his round of 68. He finished four under - scoring five birdies in the final round. Geoff Ogilvy has also finished, going round in 70 today to finish two under.

From Greg: "Tiger deserves credit for being in contention, he's so regularly there when others so often falter."

  15. 2246

Padraig Harrington misses a putt up the hill for an eagle on the 17th. He converts a birdie, as England's David Lynn rolls in one of his own at the 16th to go four under. Poulter has parred the penultimate hole, and remains five under.

  16. 2242

McIlroy is on the 14th and, from the tee, he catches a slope and the ball drops on to the rough - just short of a bunker.

  17. 2239

McIlroy is in cruise control now, rolling in a six-footer for par on the 13th. Carl Pettersson misses a birdie chance on the same hole, but he has been one of the stars of the day after dropping two shots at the first hole. He has stuck in there and is tied in second on five under.

From DevPaud: (external) "Trying to convince half a bar in France to turn off the great closing ceremony to watch Northern Ireland win their annual major."

  19. BBC Northern Ireland's Conor Spackman: "If Rory prevails, Northern Ireland will have won 40% of golf's major championships since Gmac won at Pebble in June 2010."

  20. 2232

Adam Scott has dropped two shots at the 13th, to slide to two under. The same fate befalls Padraig Harrington at the 15th - he is now level par. McIlroy is at the 13th and he finds the perfect line to land on the green and boost his chances of another par.

  21. 2229

Ian Poulter has a birdie chance at the 16th, but the ball has too much pace on it and he misses the opportunity to pull a shot back.

From TheRealFriel: (external) "Woods is a spent force? Unlucky at the US, tied 3rd at Lytham and another solid showing here. He is making steady progress."

  23. 2227

After his bogey on the 11th, Tiger has parred the next three holes to stand at the 15th tee on three under. A bogey at the 14th has dropped Peter Hanson further down the leaderboard, alongside Woods.

From lawrence_rob: (external) "Enough about Medinah - who will lead Europe at Gleneagles? Monty return? Lyle? Bjorn? Clarke?"

  25. 2224

Masters champion Bubba Watson is another to finish his round, and he was somebody else who was never in danger of bothering the leaders. He was solid enough, as he went round in 68 today to finish two under.
